Do you identify as part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, intersex, asexual, Sistergirls and Brotherboys (LGBTIQA+SB) community?
Do you or someone you know struggle with mental health and / or alcohol and other drug issues?
If you answered yes to both these questions, then we would love to hear from you!
Living Proud has the opportunity to contribute to the development of the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Strategy 2025-2030 (MHAOD Strategy) by the Mental Health Commission.
In collaboration with Youth Pride Network (YPN) and with the support of GRAI and Transfolk WA, Living Proud are running consultation workshops and online surveys for the LGBTIQA+SB community about the MHAOD Strategy consult.
We want to have your voice heard in this process and invite you to take part.
The new MHAOD Strategy guiding document will set the vision for the mental health and alcohol and other drugs systems, services and supports across community, government, non-government and the private sector in WA for the next five years.
A Discussion Paper has been developed to guide the consultation process for the MHAOD Strategy.
Feedback from community consultations on this MHAOD Strategy Discussion Paper will be used to shape how the State Government understands:
You can read the MHAOD Strategy Discussion Paper here.
We believe it’s important for LGBTIQA+SB people with lived and living experiences of mental health and / or alcohol and other drugs to have a strong voice in this process, to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of current services and highlight areas needing improvement.
That’s why we’re excited to hear if you’re interested and able to get involved in this important work!
You can choose to participate online or face to face or through a survey.
A face-to-face workshop and an online workshop will be held which aim to capture a wide range of voices.
Please note there are limited places available, and an expression of interest process.
Workshops will run for 2-3 hours.
At the end of each workshop, a short session specifically for consumer mental health lived experience attendees will be facilitated by Consumers of Mental Health WA. This session is to provide a place for consumers to reflect on the workshop and have their voices heard in further detail by the consumer peak body.
